Brian Eno Calls On Public Help to Get Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A campaign is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the top of the UK charts. The project seeks to provide aid to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a moment to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in September. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.

The impressive roster of performers appearing on Lullaby encompasses a range of well-known figures from the scene. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The track blends a fusion of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the initiative have stated that their goal is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These donations will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson explained. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a digital service from the 19th of December.
