Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille in a Shootout to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on 14 separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 champions and the French Cup winners after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. First, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

The record winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now won this trophy for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
