The former Liverpool manager admits coming back to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.

Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday is something that could happen. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure featuring a European Cup triumph and the Premier League crown in 30 years, now holds roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

Liverpool won the league title last season, but many fans who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage any other side within the country. Which implies should it be the Reds...yeah. It's plausible.”

“At 58 years old, so the choice could be mine in a few years, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would need to occur to bring him back to the touchline, he revealed he isn't eager to such a return. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “I don’t miss coaching; I avoid standing during downpours through long matches; I'm glad to skip interviews repeatedly each week or constant media duties weekly.

“The locker room isn't missed per se, yet sharing a meal with the team having a nice chat, is pleasant. Success was frequent meaning regularly great spirits at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear as an instance.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments that took the title last term. The team has suffered a string of losses across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, though he denied the notion it could be a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. Ekitike, excellent performer. This is a well-built balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, things will improve.”

Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward

He shared movingly on the loss of Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and the effect for the team. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision alongside his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute such an individual? It’s not about his footballing ability, his personality mattered. I struggle to conceive the squad without him in it. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. It was an incredible shock for his teammates as well. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that individually is challenging. Overwhelming.”
