Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for a new domestically developed interceptor drone to enhance its aerial protection systems. The first three producers have started production, with 11 more getting ready to set up assembly lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Combat Conditions

These UAVs will be based on a domestically developed system called “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. This technology has been tested in combat and demonstrated successful “during nighttime, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and brutal” following six individuals were killed and many others wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Moscow's maritime terminal of Novorossiysk halted for a period crude shipments this past Friday – equivalent to 2% of worldwide oil production – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff said its military had fired domestically produced missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “as part of operations to diminish the strategic capabilities of the invading force.”
