Vince Zampella, renowned for co-creating the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in the state of California he was 55 years old.

The tragic news was confirmed by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio which he helped establish.

The celebrated industry figure passed away following his automobile collided and burst into flames on a freeway in Los Angeles on Sunday, according to.

"This represents a heartbreaking loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, those closest to him, and the countless individuals inspired by his creative vision," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts stated.
